Lasik Laser

The full form of LASIK is “Laser In-Situ Keratomileusis”, and it is a very popular vision-correcting method adopted by surgeons nowadays. LASIK Laser has become popular because of its capability to treat refractive errors such as nearsightedness (Myopia), farsightedness (Hyperopia) and astigmatism.

LASIK laser works by reshaping the unsymmetrical cornea so that the image of an object can form directly on the retina (present in the back of the eyes). Laser treatment for the eyes can help people to eliminate their dependency on glasses permanently.

Types of LASIK Laser

1.Contoura Vision:
Contoura Vision is the latest vision correction technique or you can say specs removal technique available in the market. Contoura vision not only removes your specs or corrects the vision power, but instead, it also corrects your corneal irregularities by working on the visual axis of the cornea. It provides comparatively sharper visual outcomes than LASIK or SMILE procedures.

2. Bladeless Laser:
There are no blades required in the bladeless laser technique for correcting the vision. In this procedure, a combination of lasers is used namely Femto laser and Excimer laser. The Femto laser has a precision of 5 microns which gives this technique a greater precision level over other techniques. The bladeless laser provides greater quality of vision and is safer than other vision correcting techniques.

3. Smile:
Small Incision Lenticule Extraction (SMILE) is a technique that incorporates Femtosecond Laser for vision correction. SMILE does not cut a thin flap on the cornea. In SMILE a thin corneal lenticule is cut and is removed through a tiny incision ranging from 2-4 millimetres in a bladeless procedure. It can be used to treat Myopia or shortsightedness with astigmatism.

Why LASIK laser done?

LASIK is done because the light entering our eyes doesn’t focus on the retina the way it should be due to defective cornea shape, leading to blurry vision/defective eyesight and it can be corrected only via a refractive surgery which is LASIK laser. Let us understand what type of refractive errors are there to understand how LASIK works in different cases.

1. Myopia (Nearsightedness):
In this refractive error, the person can see nearby objects however he failed to focus on farther objects and cannot see objects at a farther distance. This causes blurry vision. LASIK laser surgery will work to reduce the curvature of the cornea of the eyes so that the focusing power is lessened resulting in forming the image of an object directly on the retina which was earlier used to form in the front of the retina.

2. Hyperopia (Farsightedness):
In this case, the person can see the farther objects however he/she cannot see the nearby objects clearly because the image of the object is not formed on the retina leading to defective vision. Here, the LASIK laser works to increase the focusing power of the eye so that the image which was being formed beyond the retina will now form on the retina, providing a clear vision to the patient.

3. Astigmatism:
In this case, the vision of a person is hampered due to the irregular shape of the cornea. Here the deformed shape of the cornea prevents the eye from focusing the light on a particular axis of the retina. Children and adults are more affected by astigmatism without realizing that they are having a vision problem. LASIK laser works to reshape the irregular cornea and makes it symmetrical leading to improve vision.

Should I get LASIK surgery?

👉 Walk-in, walk-out procedure (less-time consuming)

Lasik laser eye surgery cost

Before undergoing any refractive surgery/vision correction procedure a careful evaluation of the eyes is done, undertaking the type of refractive error, and severity of the case and other health factors. The LASIK Laser eye surgery cost depends upon all these factors (type of refractive error, age etc), a thorough examination of both the eyes and medical history of the patient.

The complexity of the refractive error of a person can directly affect the price of the LASIK Laser procedure.

    3. ICL

Ophthalmologist do few test regarding your accurate eye glasses number, thickness & shape of cornea, retina checkup. Then doctor decide about suitable procedure according to your profession, requirement and eye parameters.

No, Laser surgery is not painful at all. The doctor uses eye drops to numb your eyes during the procedure. One only feels slight pressure during the surgery, else no pain is felt. This surgery takes 10- 15 minutes or less for complete procedure.
