PRK Surgery

Photorefractive Keratectomy or PRK surgery is also a type of surface laser procedure (Epi Contoura-Streamlight) or refractive surgery which is adopted in special cases of refractive error for example people with thin corneas. PRK eye surgery is adopted in cases where LASIK is not a suitable option for the patient hence sometimes considered as an alternative to LASIK. Epi Contoura Streamlight is the latest procedure for specs removal via using a laser. This process provides extraordinary results where the patient has thin corneas and is painless, bladeless, flapless, and touchless laser procedure.

In PRK laser eye surgery, the Corneal flap is not raised instead the outer covering of the cornea known as epithelium is removed, exposing the underneath stromal tissue. The laser is then used to reshape the cornea exactly like it’s done in LASIK. After the PRK procedure, a soft contact lens is provided to the patient to protect the cornea till the epithelium is healed completely. The epithelium is self-healed in approximately four days.

Lasik Laser

There is another eye surgery that people look for named ICL or Implantable Collamer Lens in which a new intraocular lens is implanted in the eyes without removing/disturbing the natural lens.
