Mucormycosis is basically a fungal infection caused by fungi in the order Mucorales. People with a weak immune system are prone to this disease. Generally, this fungus is unable to enter our body as a disease. But COVID-19 along with other risk factors like diabetes and weak immune system, this fungus can lead to deadly disease. This fungus mostly enters the human body through the nasal cavity and affects the nose, eyes and brain of an individual. It grows inside the blood vessels and blocks them, causing blockage of that blood vessels. Thus it becomes a life threatening disease.

    Who have uncontrolled level of blood sugar are prone to this disease.
  2. Long time Oxygen Support
    People who were on oxygen support/ BIPAP/ Venltilator for a long time or were in ICUs are at risk.
  3. Long –Term use of Steroids.
  4. Immunocompromised People
    Like Cancer Patient, AIDS/HIV positive person
  5. Patient treated with immuno modulators (tocilizumab, itolizumab)
